Four reasons to update your school noticeboards.
Getting your school to look amazing is not an easy job and can take a lot of time and effort from your staff to keep things looking great. We’ve worked with dozens of schools right across the UK to help them discover the right balance of wall displays in their schools and we’re sharing some of our thoughts on why upgrading to permanent displays can make sense.
Regain lost teaching time
Keeping displays up to date can tie up staff members for hours or even days every time you want to change the message. Sourcing content, trimming it to size and then creating a layout on a physical board is a highly time-consuming process. If you find yourself with empty or out-of-date displays in your school, this will play a large part of the reason.
Think about removing some of your existing noticeboards and replacing them with permanent wall displays. You will be liberating your staff and can reclaim many hours that they are currently spending keeping corridor areas looking good. Across a school year this can add up to hundreds of hours that can be put to better use.
Better durability
Displays pinned or stapled to traditional noticeboards can quickly start to look scruffy as students brush past them on their travels. The more curious pupils may even take a closer interest, removing or ripping easily reached elements.
Consider upgrading displays on high-traffic areas to something more permanent, which, as the images show, can be produced to withstand the usual rigours of daily lesson changes or curious fingers. Wall graphics, printed panels or even acrylic displays will last long for many years without any intervention, making it that much easier to keep your school looking smart and inspire future generations.
Improve standards
We aren’t here to belittle the extremely creative displays that we have seen over the years, and we believe that these still have a place in schools. In primary and pre-prep schools, it is important to have places to showcase student work in particular. However, in most schools, there are many spaces where the standard of your identity and message can be raised with a professionally designed display.
It can be a good idea to augment your own staff-managed displays with some really well-designed wall displays that will promote your school to visitors to the highest possible. For example, you can use these designs to extol your values, or your teaching methods, which don’t need to change every year.
Reduce maintenance costs
Covering corridors with full-coverage wall graphics can significantly reduce your ongoing redecoration costs. In areas that tend to get lots of traffic, you will often spend weeks every year painting over the black scuff marks that appear on walls almost immediately after they have been painted.
Vinyl Wall Graphics are usually installed with a clear protective laminate that allows you to clean most marks off with an alcohol solution or a rubber eraser. This means that problem walls can be removed from your regular decoration schedule for up to ten years, saving you more time and money.
