Rememberance Wall
Case Study
King's College Wimbledon approached The Media Collective to reimagine their remembrance display honouring former pupils who lost their lives in conflict. The existing installation was unable to accommodate all of the information and did not reflect the standard or sense of significance the school wanted the space to convey.
The Challenge
The school wanted to create a more permanent and cohesive display that honoured every individual appropriately while remaining engaging and accessible for current students.
The challenge was to present a large amount of historical information in a way that felt structured, respectful and visually considered — avoiding the sense of a static archive while still preserving historical integrity and accuracy.
Delivery
The mural was produced and installed entirely by our in-house team within a corridor selected by the school for its visibility and suitability as a reflective space.
Through careful collaboration and refinement, the final installation transformed an incomplete display into a lasting and meaningful tribute that will continue to educate and honour future generations.
The Solution
Working closely with the school’s archivist and estates team, we explored a range of concepts before developing a permanent wall mural that brought the stories together within a clearer visual narrative.
At the heart of the design is a carefully structured timeline ensuring that every fallen alumnus is represented. Alongside this, larger stories, contextual moments and archival elements were woven into the artwork to create a richer and more human experience of remembrance.
The result balances dignity with engagement, creating a display that encourages reflection while remaining visually impactful within the everyday life of the school.
