School values with a clear direction.
We were comissioned to take the Wiseman’s ‘Compass For Life’ concept and bring it to life around the school site.
The main focus for the school was to promote their new core values of respect, knowledge, resilience and ambition, which underpin everything the school does. We won the job by demonstrating that we understood the school's vision and helped them ask the right questions around launching new school values for all stakeholders.
Our approach
The main icon, or logo, for this concept was fairly obvious from the start, but we wanted to create a layered design that represented more than met the eye. The compass was created from small elements from with the school’s main crest, with the four values on the bezel representing north, east, south and west. This direction-of-travel theme was developed further with powerful imagery that was used with the interpretation of each of the value icons, which we also created.
By creating an entire language around the values and compass we were able to create a suite of designs to use in different parts of the school, including large external banners and feature wall graphics. The compass was given pride of place in the main interpretation display near the school hall. The dimensional 3D effect helps it stand off the wall, adding a sense of quality.
The result
Now when students are passing through these areas, their school values are hard to miss, with large vinyl wall graphics and eye-catching large exterior banners hanging proudly for all to see.
