Guilsborough Academy contacted us to help them develop a strong school brand identity across their site. The designs that we produced gave them a fresh style that perfectly captured their personality and aspirations.

When Guilsborough initially got in touch we were asked to tender for new site signage that would help to unify their school buildings.  With further discussion with the academy we were able to ascertain that they had no clear brand or identity so we were asked to present something that was representative of a school that had traditional values and high achievement.

Our initial solution built upon the existing school crest. By putting it through what we would call a Brand Refresh we created a new identity that sat alongside an updated logo. This was to form the visual language that we then used to re-design almost every part of the school’s brand identity from signage to school letterheads, Powerpoint templates, prospectus brochures and a brand new school website.

One of the first things that we did was to arrange a two-day photoshoot with one of our professional photographers. This would give us and the school a large bank of very high-quality images to use on any marketing and help to establish both the quality and personality of the school. Using these images, and in discussion with the school we produced an engaging school prospectus, which uses shades of blue and a silver accent to establish a sophisticated, traditional feel that suits the school’s high standards and aspirations.

The site
Signage uses silver lettering and vinyls that convey the highest standard to visitors that is reinforced from the gate signs through the reception area and into the rest of the school. Importantly, this reassures visitors of the school’s attention to detail and focus on excellence in everything that it does.

The requirement for the website was for it to be clean, clear and highly professional. With this in mind we designed an interface and menu structure that allows a lot of content to be presented with minimal mouse clicks. After a long and considered design process the website was implemented on a full-featured content management system, which, after an initial training session allows members of the staff access to edit different parts of the site. The school just needs to ensure that content is now kept up to date!

The new identity has been very well received and the new website has already had praise from parents for its well-considered navigation, mobile responsiveness and ease of use. The school itself is delighted with the new, improved identity and the quality and consistency of everything that has been produced to date. It has been instrumental in reassuring existing and prospective parents of the school’s improving standards.

“Working with The Media Collective has been very easy at every step of the process. They have been extremely responsive and are always on hand to provide help and ideas for our marketing and signage. We have been most impressed with the quality of the completed work. Our new website is much-improved and The Media Collective ensured that the process was as painless as possible. I would recommend their services to all schools without hesitation.”
